Our Parish Heritage

Our parish has a rich history reflected in its churches, its people and its close connection with the Shannon Estuary.

St Mary’s Church in Kilmurry McMahon dates from 1803 and has served the local community for more than two centuries. It underwent major renovation in 1974, helping to preserve the church for future generations.

St Ciarán’s Church in Labasheeda was built in 1976, entirely through voluntary labour. Its construction is a lasting reminder of the generosity, commitment and community spirit of local people.

These two churches continue to provide places of prayer, worship and welcome for parishioners and visitors alike.

As part of Radharc na nOileán, we celebrate our own parish identity while working together with neighbouring communities to sustain a vibrant and welcoming Church.
